Jacob's Mom is finally getting a Home!

literally burst into tears when I saw these pictures of Jacob's Mom in front of her new home.  I could tell she was more poised and comfortable, andI hope that means she is eating and living like she was used to before. She was in pain all the time and seemed "puffy" in the first pictures I saw of her. In this picture, I can see where Jacob's bone structure and expression comes from.

Also, The sturdy structure, obviously made by hand directly represents the tenacity and dedication and the concept of one building things one brick at a time is a testament to Jacob and comes directly from the heart.  I am so proud of where he has come from and what he has gone through to heal and to help his family in Sudan.

Seed starting and Nettles collecting

I built a hoop house from re-bar, pvc pipe, and greenhouse plastic; and Friday I started leeks, onions, calendula and arnica. so far the little hoop house has held up! I need to reinforce it it with burley posts and a beam on the next warm sunny day. I have all the materials, and jen thinks it will look like a pup tent.  I have it rigged so the it will shed the water off when it rains and is a little bit warmer than the outdoors, and the condensation has even managed to keep it moist in there. But, it could and will be better. So far there have been no signs of life yet, though.
Sorry about the sideways picture
On the Nettles front, I have been collecting nettles for a few weeks now, and we have been eating or drinking them non stop at my house. I finally gave away the last of the harvest from Wednesday last week just in time to go again this week. So far I have not dried any yet, but we have sauteed them and soaked them overnight for tea, and I hope to make a lasagna with some nettles and spinach this week!
