Chickens! And a freshly plowed field

I got 3 chickens this week! They are so cute and defenseless, so I have been making their coop "raccoon proof". Last night they slept in there for the first time, and they did ok. I have to figure out a few more things, but for the most part they like it. Now, I have to fence in their yard. They have been spending their days in a chicken tractor or just running free when I am home. They mostly stay under and around their coop (roost). I want to make the area big enough for us to walk in and shut the door, but not so big that it takes up tons of space. I need to cover the whole area with fencing, so that is another reason to keep it pretty small. I will upload pictures soon of me and the chicks together. At night they like to come and land on me for a little lovin, and to tell me it is bedtime.

Oh yeah, and the front field at the farm was tilled last week, and the Okara was tilled in. It is still a little stinky, but I will be able to plant into it for this season. It is a good thing, because I have a lot of starts that need to go in soon.

I will be selling at the Bastyr Food and Herb Fair on Sat May 31st from 10-5, come out and see me there!
