Up Pops Spring! Happy Year of the Pig!

It is the start of the Lunar New Year, and I am glad to have hundreds of seedlings popping out of the soil right now! It is amazing what water, light and warmth will do for a seed. My friend Karen is starting a bunch of seeds that I had ordered and not had time to start, in her basement. Most are from last year, but some are from when I first bought seeds in 2002. I will be having plant sales soon in West Seattle and on Vashon, no dates yet though. I have some unusual varieties to sell at the Seattle Tilth's Plant Sale- happening the first weekend of May. I will also bring some of them to the University District Farmer's Market on Saturdays as soon as they can handle it. They are so delicate and hopeful, reaching for the light! The weather has been really nice and warm, but now it is getting cold again this week. I hope they do okay through it. I am going snowboarding this week sometime.
