About Sister Sage Herbs

Jayne Simmons is the owner and principal farmer of Sister Sage, a medicinal herb farm and edible landscaping company, and natural remedies company on Vashon Island. She grows all of the herbs using organic and water conservation practices, then hand harvests and creates natural remedies in small artisan batches. Jayne teaches classes in growing food and medicines, and processing herbs into healthful remedies with ordinary kitchen equipment. She has developed classes for children and adults, and offers home remedies parties that are a great alternative to the typical bachelor-ette party, or baby shower.

Sister Sage Herbs is part of The Roseballen Community Land Trust which is located on 19 acres just west of the town of Vashon. The Roseballen Land Trust includes a cluster of 19 owner built homes on 3 acres, leaving the remaining land for open space and including 4 ½ acres designated for horticultural use. Vashon Household (VHH) is a nonprofit organization devoted to retaining and developing affordable housing on Vashon Island, just a ferry ride away from Seattle, Washington. VHH requires the agricultural area to utilize water conservation practices and comply with the standards of organic farming.
